In November of 2019, we were contacted by Larry, Lisa and Carol because they were looking for a permanent home for Chacho. He was found and rescued from a place in Barra Navidad, Mexico, where he was held in a very small cage which only had a roof and some barbed wire fences.
Chacho lived in very bad conditions for a monkey of his kind; he lived alone, and had nothing to climb onto. The investigations show reports that he was living in this deplorable condition since 1998.
Through PROFEPA (Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection), he was placed in his new home the Primate Pets, where he now happily lives in a community of 13 Spider Monkeys.
After 20 years of loneliness, Chacho no longer needs to sleep, eat or play on his own. He now has a great family of Spider Monkeys and specialized caretakers that look after him, ensuring that he is in great physical and emotional health.
